What did you do with your flock today?

Good morning gang! I made it back a few pages on my little phone, def tries my patience with losing pages when I respond, plus big HD adds.
All is well in my spot of the world. Wind has lessened - yippee! - and the morning brings partial clouds with cool temps.
In chicken world reporting, I am happy to say all chooks have been very good with the exception of Mazzie. She has been enjoying sand breaks a lot. She is old and deserves them, but it is just another reminder that all of my favorite chickens won't last forever 🙁.
After my big losses the last few months, I am able to enjoy a more settled flock now. Demanding, but settled.

I collected 18 eggs yesterday, granted 2 were from ferals donating. Those are the little eggs we have been enjoying. Rest are for sale or give.
Spider really goes the extra mile to keep feral roos out of the yard/coop/run, while keeping the feral girls in. Also, being sure his favorites eat the best, first.

Everything is growing, blooming and fruiting like crazy. Fruit is bringing lots of flies, gnats etc.

Every 2 weeks I  got get to do a heavy trim

Chooks are eating so much fruit I worry about the shells on their eggs. Gotta slow the fruit intake down. Love to say I was saving on feed, but ... 🫤

Waste not, want not. We have been having shipping issues again so feed is what you get, and today, we have a layer crumble that does not do well in this feeder. Bad chickens picking through the feed.
I put out about 12 homemade fly traps.

The cost was close to $10 instead of $60.

Last 2 fosters - Waihona and Marsha - aren't that friendly, but we will get there... somewhere safe and good ♡

Adding a regular morning feed to my schedule, along with my fill-ins for the colonies. It will kick the snot outta me but it is oh so beautiful and rewarding.

K. Thats my world and I gotta get after it. Have a safe and terrific day all!!!

What is fruiting now? Seymour is just lovely. Your Spider is such a fine roo, although he is adding to your flock. That is a lot of feed outside the feeder! So glad all is well.

My chicken's impacted crop wasn't completely empty this morning, but there was less in it than yesterday. I massaged it a little and fed her a bit of wet feed.

I ran down to the hardware store and bought some syringes and a foot of 1/4" vinyl tubing. I rounded one end of a short piece of the tubing and attached it to the syringe. I used it to push a little olive oil and warm water down into her crop, then I massaged it a little more.

Wow, the storm rolling through today brought some crazy winds!! We’ve had to go fix tarps and pick up furniture every hour or so when the nasty gust blows thru! Broke our pool umbrella, put patio cushions in the pool…our neighbor friends now have their neighbors patio cover on their roof…it isn’t even raining, just blowing crazy hard! Then the power went out and I had a massive panic attack because I have some very important eggs incubating and they’re like 2 days from hatching 😩😩😩 And I have another 30 or so due over the next three weeks at varying stages. Only one of our generators was working so I moved all the lockdown babies into the one incubator that was running on the generator…and then the power came back on 10 mins later 😤🤦🏼‍♀️ So now I don’t know what to do 😩 lockdown needs better humidity than the first week eggs…sooo I might keep them there for tonight and mover them back after the worst of the storm passes. I have 5 Watermaal eggs that 4 of them came from Alfredo. I want them to hatch so badly! So please think great thoughts for them! The draw down just started happening today 😭 So now I’m all stressed out and worried. I had to up the humidity to 60% so I’m hoping it doesn’t do too much to the new baby eggs that just started and should be closer to 45%. Dang winter weather!
Ouch! The winds crazy here too...but not that level of crazy! Hope it calms soon!

Aloha flock!
Good to see you all clucking about ♡♡♡ Where's @LTAY1946 ? I only went back loosely so many pages. Don't have the bandwidth to do a deepdive catching up yet.
Life is good. Glad you all are well 🐓🌈❤️

I got a new paper weight, or Tally is relieving Forest of his job for a bit.View attachment 3741435
All much the same here. Shuffling and caring for cats and chickens and people. Finally worked my way back into sewing and more normal chores, also got a great ride in yesterday.

Sorry to hear about all of the wild weather. Hope all stays well and warm and dry-ish. We have been getting back to back weather too and I guess pineapple express, sending it your way. Been windy the last few days but dry, looking forward to the trades calming down. Feel free to send the rain back our way 😉🌧🌧 I want to be spoiled a little while longer 🌱 Just digging the green of the isle and cool weather.
Such a handsome boy!
It's so good to see you ❤️❤️❤️😻!

I think if I were a feral roo, I'd take one look at Spiders magnificence and run as fast as I could in the opposite direction 😂😍. What a gorgeous big boy!
Waihona and Marsha are such beautiful girls. I sure hope they find homes even if they never learn to love.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful world...it always gives me a smile and inspiration 🥰.

Back at cha! When people share photos it makes me up my game for sure. I like all of the creative hardworking chicken folks on this thread. 👍
Spider is a hunky forsure. I really hit the lotto with him. Beetle is no slouch either, a more passive boy, but not afraid to stand his ground.

Hows little Biscotti and the twin kitties today?

Starfruit, soursop, oranges and #9 mangoes are close!
Seymour really is terrific but tries to strangle me on my way into the run when I collect eggs and replenish stocks. It does get old getting beat up by a plant 😂 but I still love him. I mean, a great problem to have right?!

Where are you headed for your holiday and when are you headed out? You excited?!! 😄

All doing woooonderful ❤️! The kitties have turned me into their happy slave 🤣. Boo is curled up under my sweater on my shoulder and Tinks snuggled into a little ball in my lap right now. I should go do the final kitchen tidy for the night...but that'd disturb my little babies during one of the rare moments when they're both content at the same time 😂🥰🤗😜 Not sure if I've shared these pics yet since they're not from today...but Boos the face and Tinks the stretched out one. I've let hubby know I want to keep them, so now he's calling them chickens  😂.

Biscotti is definitely looking more like a hen these days but I'm stubbornly still hoping 😂🤪. I can't imagine anything but hen with her now to be honest though. I have a couple small boys she'll do well with though. She's sweet as a button. ❤️

Splitting headache tonight for some reason... time to go close my eyes til it passes 🥴
