Good idea! Nothing like a nice bowl of beautiful eggs ♡ congratulations!!!!Today we pick up our first chicks! The start of our flock, 2 Australorps, 3 Golden Sebrights, and 2 Silver Sebrights! We are considering sneaking in a White Maran and Ameraucana so when they lay, we get some variety <3
That’s a Mama Bear face if I’ve ever seen one! Yikes! I’m impressed you were able to get her eggs from her, well doneAnd chaos and insanity!!!
Third feral broody mom showed last eve with her brand new brood. View attachment 3753006♡ I got beat up by feral broody momma in my nest box again. Once again, I managed to push her off with my basket, minimizing the attack damage to me, and collected 3 eggs. I left her with 2 decoys so she does not switch nest boxes. I patted myself on my back with my pecked hand for winning last evenings battleView attachment 3753016View attachment 3752994View attachment 3753011
Scary. Yes, love abounds, I can see it in her eyes. Should we give her a name?
Yeah, we love him lots! He’s such a good boy and I’m so glad the stars aligned so we could adopt himI can't help but tear up a little while thinking how happy and safe Shadow is now. His start was so differentjust bless you for your soft moment of clarity. I'm sure his food insecurities will pass. He is a growing boy and needs his snacks. Mine did that till they did not.
I've been feeding them green grapes because that's what's available at the store. The pears are mainly cores with seeds, and a few bruised spots. They like them well enough.Mine absolutely devour both cheese and grapes too - although the grapes have to be red or black. My lot spoilt? Never!
They get frozen peas a few times a week, which go down very well - never tried canned.
But pears? You'd think I'd tried to feed them arsenic!![]()
Some sad news.Olena passed away while we were away. Her care giver didn't want to tell me until I went to pick her up today. She felt really bad, but we all know how suddenly chickens can die. Thanks for everyone's support on this journey.
Deborah, a woman warrior. And chaos and insanity!!!
