What did you do with your flock today?

I'm at the auction, doesn't start for another hour. I brought 4 of my 8 week old cockerels.

There's everything here, chicks, ducklings, eggs, ducks, chickens, rabbits, quail, a Tom turkey and even this beauty, a pheasant I believe ⬇️

I love goats! I do not need a goat either but...

My friend has an Asiatic Golden Pheasant cock. He is a little 💩Terrorises her dogs, ducks and bantams. He's beautiful though, 😍.

Just been told that my Shetland hen, Gladys', dad has died at age 9. He had nine lives - trampled and knocked unconscious by a bull, tangled in electric fencing, nearly killed by another cockerel...he weathered it all. And appeared on National t.v. here in the UK! He died peacefully in his sleep. RIP Jimmy, sleep softly, you deserve it 🐓❤️

Aww, I love It when the young boys try to crow! 🤣

I remember the first time Stan tried to crow. Stan watched his dad let out a magnificent crow, threw his heart and soul into copying him - head back, chest puffed out - and out came...a tiny, pathetic squeak :lau
I got Samuel on video trying to crow after hearing Joel, the head roo.

Samuel was Zack's father.

Back when they were allowed run of the yard, my son got them trained to go to the vines Before I knew it, they were flying up to any they could reach on the horizontal ones they could perch on. Little stinkers. They don't like bananas.
Mine hate bananas too! Now mango and pineapple on the other hand...

I think Martha is his biological mother.

See the white wing feather?

I removed the dog crate brooder on Sunday afternoon, and redid the perches, and reorganized the run with lots of hidey holes for the latest hatch of chicks. And threw a flake of straw down.

Happy hens!

I've been very busy on the farm and not here lately. I finally found a search word that got me back here. I have something kind of special to me going on here on the homestead no. We have a fully matured (with very big spurs) Delaware rooster that guards and takes care of a mixed pen of chicks that range in age from 8 weeks to crowning. He will take a treat and call them to it just like they were a flock of hens. He roosts with them at night and stays with them during the day while out free ranging. He has a forever home here.
