Pumpkin day!!!

I gave mine a couple big piles of green weeds yesterday, and they each got an apple today. Happy birds!

I put up some security fencing to make the yard in front of the barn a secure place for the chooks to roam in, the big White Pine is now their favourite spot to hang out.

I get by on 3-4 hours a night too. It's rubbish.

On the plus side, I can monitor how loud my boys are being and how early they crow in case of neighbour complaints. So far, there have been none - I love my neighbours!

My neighbours like the sound of them crowing - me not so much, this time of year though they are not starting as early thank goodness!

My neighbours profess to love the sound of my boys crowing, too. We live in an urban area so they say it makes them feel like they're in the country. Someone one street over has a rooster now, too. It sets my boys off crowing every morning. I'm also not too enthusiastic about the sound, especially when it's right in my ear! It doesn't help that Stan's crow varies between nails down a chalkboard and an adolescent boy's voice breaking.

Oh, YES! That describes Zack's crow. I leave for work while it's still dark, and this morning the porch light set him to gargling...

Mine are all crazy for the stuff. It's fun watching them go after it. Then when one gets a seed or one of the "strings", the race is on.

I never knew how entertaining, chickens can be.

Remember to take time to preen. Self care is as important as caring for others.

My son loves to help our flock get some exercise
He runs through the yard with the tree at bag and it looks like it's straight from a cartoon with them chasing him. Makes for a good morning show with coffee.
