What did you do with your flock today?

A friend sent home some softened, slightly wrinkled apples, so the girls have had a couple or 3, between the 17 of them. Weeds and other goodies from garden cleanup, for them. They even got some sprouting catnip today, and some kale stalks that had little crawlies, millipedes probably on them, and one stinkbug. Thinking of converting the netting boxes into rollaway, just haven't yet. The eggs get quite dirty when the weather is wet and they get muddy feet.

Wish mine would eat apples. Got a few left from last year that are like that. Little brats won't touch them 😔

One of my chickens started molting last night, lots of feathers scattered around and she's looking scraggly. I gave them all some cooked pork today for extra protein.

I hope their egg quality improves soon. One or more of them keeps laying thin shell brittle eggs, which get eaten in the nest box after they break. At least they're not going to waste. They don't bother with the solid shell eggs at all, so it's ok with me that they eat the bad ones.

I put my new hatched chick downstairs with the 3-day-olds.

I looked over all my show birds.

I cleaned up a cache from snowball.

I checked on snowballs body, it has not been eaten yet.

I put a broody wyandotte in a cage.

I filled the water bucket.

I filled the silkies water.

I gave everyone scratch.

I got all eggs.

:)

I wonder if you ground them up and mixed with oatmeal?
My girls look forward to fallen apples, with them sometimes having extra treats in them. 🪱 most of my trees are in their run.
Good suggestion but nope. Tried every which way with them. They will occasionally eat a tiny beakful of apple sauce. But only if they feel like it. Even Ferdy, who will try absolutely anything he sees go in my mouth, will spit it out when he realises it's apple.
