What did you do with your flock today?

Chicks from this year's first hatch are a week old as of tonight / tomorrow morning. We spent most of today outside and they happily scoffed all the greens I gave them to try, plus as many flies as they could catch. Then I was in a rush making their mash up this evening and they ran away screaming in terror because it was a slightly different consistency to what they're used to

I gave the hens and pullets a few bowls of wetted down All Flock crumbles. Regular food becomes a treat when it's wet.

I have a pair of New Hampshire cockerels now to go along with the 7 NH pullets I got last month. Now I can start working on a self sustaining flock. I bought a couple Rhode Island red pullets yesterday so the two cockerels would have company.

Today my baby wants some human company! ♥
She's a squittish one but when she gets into the house, we know she wants to hang out with us.
She's so pretty! Looks like she's doing well as a solo bird ❤️

I love it when my gang wander in and out, they like to inspect everything and give their approval (or not!). They're all restricted to the kitchen (unless accompanied and heavily supervised) other than Ferdy who is house trained and goes wherever he wants. He normally just rides around on my shoulder. I call him my cut-price parrot 🦜

Oh, how precious! I wish I could have chicks again but can't risk any more roosters.

My youngest rooster, Stanley, takes after his panicky mum rather than his virtually unflappable dad. He has always freaked out if you offer him something unexpected or different to what he's used to so your chicks running away from their mash really tickled me 😂
