Oh wow! They are great looking birds! They look to have fibro-melanism like the Ayam dad?

I guess so. The lady that raises them said that their facial color change gradually.

Well, I was in the kitchen yesterday and heard a funny sound outside. It was one if the Mystic Marans trying to crow! Upon closer inspection, I now see that I have bought 2 cockerels! I am trying to get this rectified by the seller, but have no answer back. I did ask for pullets, and she said they were. I think I will have to find a buyer, or have a very expensive gourmet meal. Paid $60 for both.

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.

Not really something I did with my flock but thought I'd share something cool so in July we lost 10 of our flock members from COCCIDIOSIS and I lost bunny who was my best friend and I was devastated I would really sad but as the months without her went on this little speckled sussex named roseighlea became my little cuddle bug I'm so grateful for her she really is a little angel

How old are they? The one with the red shoulders and larger comb certainly looks like one, but I’m not so sure about the other, at least from these pics.

Oh no! I know exactly how this is It's how I ended up having cockerels.
My first two were sold to me as 9wk pullets, a Swedish Flower and a bantam cochin. I had no experience of either breed so wasn't aware of the clues that they might not be girls until one crowed at 11wks and the other at 13wks...
The seller was happy to take them back fortunately (although it was incredibly hard as I'd utterly fallen in love with them). I did keep the bantam Cochin, he's the father and grandfather of my current two roos.
My recent pullet purchase had me totally freaking out until I was certain they were both girls - about 6 weeks after purchase

Aww, this is so lovely (and sad too - I'm sorry for your loss). And totally relatable. I lost my little Penelope last year to leukemia. From hatching until she went broody for the first time, she bit or pecked me daily. Then she became the sweetest girl. I was heartbroken when she died. Pootle, one of my new pullets, has become my new cuddlebug - she follows me everywhere, rides on my shoulder with one of my roos and will only go to roost once she's cuddled for at least 30 mins and told me all about her day. I tell her tales of the flock in return.
