What did you give your chickies today?

I just started giving my chicks treats this past week. So far they've gotten scrambled eggs, bread, leftover spaghetti noodles and raisins. Going to try yogurt this weekend.

I forgot and left the gate open to one of the gardens today, and the ladies helped themselves to 15 types of food plants and herbs.

They lucked out today, our freezer stopped freezing and so they got all the stuff that was mushy in there as well as a container of strawberries that had started to turn.

I try to give my chickens one different treat every day to go with their regular feed. So far their favorites have been sliced tomatoes and waxworms that I got from a friend whose chameleon wouldn't eat them. They devoured the waxworms in five minutes, including the dry oatmeal they were in. I can't wait until summer, when the grasshoppers come out. I'm sure the chickens will have a grand time.

I just love hearing the excited sounds they make when I drop some food into their coop.

On the menu today was meal worms, tomato, and cucumber and for dessert - strawberries!

we have 3 chickens!
