What did you have to learn the hard way? (management stuff)

WarmFuzzies........

Wouldn't YOU have a "heart-attack" IF someone that you GAVE a few dozen eggs to over a period of time.......were to show up at YOUR door with a dozen "store-bought" eggs when YOUR hens weren't laying?

Not likely, even IF they knew you had no eggs. Ha-Ha.
(they are sitting at home wishing YOUR hens would start laying again!)

I guess, over a Lifetime, I've learned THIS the "hard-way".

I'm still pretty new to the chicken biz, but this is what I've learned the hard way so far....

- build your coop twice as big as you think you'll need.

- chicken wire is evil.

- chickens crap a LOT.

- chickens will establish their own pecking order...and there is a bottom spot.

- some chickens like to be held and others DON'T!

- I'll either need to get $25 for a dozen eggs or about 12 eggs a day out of each hen for 8 years for me to even come close to breaking even.

- chickens crap a LOT.

chickinlickin, could not have said it any better then you:lol:
but they do make me smile at the things they do, I guess that makes up for all the crap they leave behind:rolleyes:
