Q-Tip, she’s a splash polish.

Chonky, I think she’s an Olive Egger.

And Gimpy, also possibly an Olive Egger or black Ameraucana.

Gimpy is definitely an Ameraucana, I had four that looked like her and turned out to be so.

I like to connect with something visual. That was easy with a mixed flock of unique individuals, but now I am having issues since hatching with my newly mature roo Nico and many look almost the same! Still, I have my more unique cockerels named Negro Modelo for a fancy barrred gold-necked birchen/black barred body BCMXCCL, Rollo for a solid reddish-gold BCMXbuff minorca, Bluebeard for a lovely blue bearded/gold hackled/blue bodied BCMXSplashEE, Blizzard for a crazy white laced with gold on black BCMXLtBrahma, Vulcan for a red head& red-laced breasted/black bodied BCMXpartridge OliveEgger & Coalman for my solid black cockerel. The pullets so far are my black babies Jetta BCMXLtBrahma, Chrissy BCMXCCL Onyx BCMXCuckooOE. The rest are waiting on inspiration for red-laced birchen over black bodies, some with crests and gold-necked barred birchens cockerels.

I’m looking for name inspo!
We’ve hatched a whole bunch out and now I need to start thinking of names!!
So what names do your chickens have? 😍
I am in the process of naming my 14 hens started this year. I am using the names of "church ladies"🤣So far I have Martha, Izzy, Camile, Roseanne, Shelly, and Pearl. I have to study the combs on the remaining ones.

I try to come up with generally old-fashioned names that match their breed name or their looks. For example, my black polish has a mop of white feathers on her head, so she is “Phyllis”, as in “Phyllis Diller” (ok, I’m old!). “Mabel and Martha Marans”, “Violet” (lavender Ameracana), “Ruby” (red hen), etc. Hope this inspires you!
