I have done the same- named after characteristics. One gimps because of a bad leg- so Gimpy. One hen pecks so we call her Woody Pecker. Another survived a fox attack - she is Foxy.Love Buff Orpingtons
We've had a few roosters with names, usually related to their appearance or behavior, and usually named by the grandson or the lady of the house, I prefer not to name them, but I did one. They had named one "White Bird", one was "Friend Bird", another was "Two Feathers". The one I named had all his tail feathers pulled out from the other birds. I named him "Ass Plucked Clean"![]()
The rest the grandkids named - Clairbelle Rainbow heart, Brownie, Rosie, and Cinder.
