What did your chickens do today?

Don't worry I figured out all the mistakes.

So glad all the chicken are fine. You are very lucky so is hawk. I am amazed Mr Fox didn't get any one.

My chickens get t attacked by something every once in a while, but their bush is close to our door, and our house is small,we can be out there as soon as we hear it.but I'm worried that where we are going to put the coop is far away from the house, you can't even see it from a window, you have to go out there because it's behind a barn/shed thing.right now you can see their bush from the kitchen window.the only other close call was a bobcat.that's still out there somewhere....

Well, if your coop is strong enough you shouldn't need to worry.
A BOBCAT, I love those...well not near my flock.

My girls watched me do yard & coop work - always trying to help of course. The new chicks were placed outside in there temporary enclosure so the flock can adjust - Boy did that put a kink in a couple tail feathers

. Its not the first time for new comers & wont be the last - lol. The weather was great so the flock got to free range most of the day - the mighty bug hunters were on the loose. Reminds me of the scene off Lion king when they roll the logs over & suck up the larva

They love to do that. My hens come flocking when I start digging, they know worms are there

I have never had any problems with new chicks. What breed are they?

haha, I have never gotten why the Lion would eat those bugs. LOL .

I know - love my hens too, they are pretty entertaining :) The new chicks are a buff orph, barred rock & mystery chick. The mystery chick was dumped at a local high school in a plastic container - pretty cruel - left in the rain to die pretty much. When it was brought to me & we decided to take it in I went to the local feed store & got it a couple buddies. I was being good this year & not going to add to the flock - look how that turned out

My golden sexlink had the twist in her tail - lol. Don't know if she was excited or irritated but she ran around singing her little head off for about an hour. She has fostered chicks before so the peeping might have gotten her excited. My BCM hen can be a little unfriendly - she didn't seem overly joyful that there were newbies in the coop area. The other hens didn't react.

A pic of the 1st day we got them.
