What did your chickens do today?

My chickens spent their time defending their yard against the various songbirds who tried to land in it. They charge any intruder, all who immediately take to the wing when they see about thirty chickens thundering towards them honking like angry geese. Them songbirds. Give 'em an inch and they'll take over your territory.

hehe I caught my rooster doing this several days ago. I'd seen the wild birds many times landing and foraging in the yard before. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Stevie barrel across the yard flapping like crazy, I leaned over to the window to get a closer look and here he came back again right after a bird.

So....it gets reall hot here in the middle of the day( about 100 degrees) and I went out to get a drink and found these guys in our garage!

I went on a chicken rescue mission today the chicks that I gave my in laws cuz we don't have the room were out in a cage in the blaring sun with no food and green water! I was so po'd I backed the truck up and we put the cage on it and I took them home with me. They came from the same group as Pigpen and they are half his size two of them already died last month I found out. They are definitely mixed breeds cuz they look like white leghorns and have random brown feathers. Two have brown wings and one looks like a Columbian Wyandott wearing fur boots.

Exactly! and not only that... they followed me into the house because i was eating a sandwich! they are completely spoiled. the worse thing is is that they take dustbath right next to the Garage and they WAIT to shake it all out untill they get the garage..

its very frustrating...

Me too I'm going to find a farmer who would like to have them. I'm keeping her, though...

She'll be pretty once she's cleaned up... Poor baby

Very hot here today. Ours are rooting around, finding soft damp spots and digging into them.
