i know they are both good layers, what color eggs are they and post any pics of them, I need pics of the birds and the eggs please. :) thinking bout gtting these 2breeds next year, are they good hardy birds

I currently have 1 BR and 2 RiR hens laying. I wish I had pics of them...but I am really having trouble figuring out which egg goes with which hen. They are all the same color!

The dark eggs are from RIR...hope the pic isn't too fuzzy, its from when I was learning my new camera awhile back and the settings are wrong. The pic doesn't show the beauty of the dark egg shell color.

here's my very first flock, RIR hens which are not the deep dark red that I would love to own some day but these hens stole my heart anyway;)

I've never owned rocks but would love to have partridge rocks someday.

RIR are great! We have two and they are so friendly. They come right up to us and love to have their backs scratched and don't mind being held. They don't run away from us when we come near them. Buff Orpingtons are fabulous too. Both RIR and BO's are good layers of brown eggs, and are winter hardy. We don't have a barred rock, but I have read they are really nice. They look cool too!

They vary. See this flat of eggs? They're all Barred Rock eggs. The dark one in the middle came from my BR hen, Lexie, and the rest came from my friend's flock of BR hens. I've had RIRs lay light colored eggs, dark speckled eggs, medium brown eggs, etc.
