We have started to keep Silver laced and Buff laced Wyandottes in seperate runs. With out having to buy a trio of blues to breed from what colours can i cross to produce blue offspring? The idea we have is if i have to but two more trio's of birds (two different colours) then we could effectively produce 3 different sets off offspring.
Many Thanks in advance.

without outsoursing the blue gene from another birds you wont be able to get blue laced wyandottes with the current stock you have...

Sorry i might have rambled a bit and not got the point across. I understand i cant breed those two to get the blue but are their another two colours i can breed to get blue offspring?
for instance Red x Buff

you cant get Blue laced out of a Red x Buff... your best bet is to get a Blue Laced Red Hen and cross your best silver laced rooster to her and you will get 50% Blue laced silver(instead of red) hens, the rest will be normal silver laced hens

Are you talking about Blue Laced Red or another Blue Laced color?

If your talking about Blue Laced Red then you will have to add both the Blue and the Mahogany gene.

I understand that i cant with RedXBuff i used it as a simple example. Thanks for the advice with with Blue laced Reds, i doubt i'll have much trouble finding a few good hens to run with the rest of them.

I'm not really fussy as to which blue i add, from the previous post i assume that if i add blue gene hens to my silvers coop i will get 50% split off spring.

you will get 50% Blue laced silver hens, 50% silver laced hens, BUT the boys will need to be culled, because they will be golden blue laced and golden laced, but this type of golden is not the normal golden you find on golden laced wyandottes this will be more like lemon color instead of the gold tone and they wont breed true ever.... BUT I have yet to see a Blue Laced Lemon bird and you may actually may want to keep a few roos just for the look of them
