hi my ducks started laying a few weeks ago. a duck food supplier shop showed me what feed i should feed them and i have been feeding them grower pwllets

done a little research and i think i should be feeding them layer pellets?

have a duck that has laid 3 eggs in one day today and 1 was a normal egg, the other 2 had no shell, i now think i am feeding them the wrong thing and thats why its happened??

they are on grower feed with oyster shells, peas and niacin added to their water.

could someone please tell me if i should be feeding them layers or growers?
thank you

I would choose the grower over the layer personally or find an all flock ration.

When a bird releases multiple ovum in a day it's impossible for them to put a shell on all of them hence the shell less eggs. They will consume the oyster shells as needed.

Sometimes you see some glitches in the egg laying system as they start up or shut down.

Shell-less eggs are fairly normal for new layers. It just means that not all parts of the egg production system are working in unison. A few more weeks of development, and all should be well. It's got nothing to do with calcium intake.

thanks so much for info.
just wanted to make sure im doing everything right for her. will keep her on grower pellets and carry on doing what im doing, thank you!

I would feed them layers as it has more calcium in it for shell production but as others have said new layers often lay shelless eggs, things will sort themselves out eventually.

PS I am new duck keeper, I have always kept chickens until now and base my answer on this
