Just wondering if anyone has done this or has any pictures? I have a banty frizzle roo that is mating with my RIR's and am thinking about hatching a few just for fun...anyone have a picture of this type of mutt? I also have a few Barred Rocks that will be old enough to lay in another month, that would be another one I would be interested in seeing.
hi,, I have a banty cochin roo / RIR .. but my roo did not turn out Banty.. LOL he was born on June 26th .. and the pictures have dates
Heres pictures as he is growing.. hes gangly right now.. but a totaly mushy sweetheart.. unlike the barred rock/ee mutt in some of the pictures that hatched with him..
but he was wet and it was cold..
wow.. going through I just realized.. I dont have any really good pictures of the guy.. He is about 15 weeks old and not the prettiest guy.. but his feathers are changing AGAIN and they are coming in very very dark and shiney and he had beautiful tail feathers until about 2 weeks ago when the other pullets decided to pull them out one by one.. I was sooooooooo mad.
the short story is.. got 4 hens on May 18th already laying, someone gave me a free hova bator and I collected some eggs on day 18 away from any roo.. and curiosity got me and I wondered if they'd still be fertile.. well outta 9 eggs from 4 different hens.. 3 were fertile.. and the addiction to hatching began
Wow...awesome! Thanks for the picture! I'm hoping to get my hands on an incubator soon...its on my christmas list, but I'm not sure I can wait that long, lol! So would every bird from that mix be a full size bird or would some be banties? I should go back and read the "genetics 101" link that someone sent me and I could prolly figure it out, but it might take be a few hours
If anyone has a pic of a hen or any info about egg-production, I would love to hear. I have a couple of people that would be interested in some chicks, but they want egg layers, so I'm not sure if the production would be closer to a cochins or a RIR...or maybe in the middle?
