What do I have here?

I think the gold feathers are pretty, also. They're just not "correct".

My last pure Ameraucana rooster was a splash with a lot of red leakage. his breeder rightfully culled him from her flock, but I was happy to get him. I wasn't breeding pure Ameraucana, I used him for a blue egger sex-link project. Since my offspring weren't pure bred birds, just backyard beauties, I liked the extra bit of red that came through in the offspring. I get bored with solid colored birds

Birchen isn't a recognized color for Ameraucana.

This bird isn't birchen, regardless. I'm seeing a poorly bred black bird with a ton of gold leakage. If you're wanting to breed true Ameraucana, he's out of the breeding pen altogether, don't even consider him. If, on the other hand, you're just wanting to breed EE for some cute birds and colored eggs, he would make a great flock sire. You'll get a lot of black chicks, but his amount of leakage means you'll have a fair amount of gold coming through also.
I agree.

He's a mutt! Lol.. thanks again guys! It makes my decision much easier. I have nothing against mutts, I love my girls, I just don't see myself ever crossing him over my EE's. Too many projects!

EE's are mutts. He's likely a mixed breed from blue egg parent so would be called an EE. If you used him with your girls you'd get EE's. There is no reason to not use him and go and get a male that is called an EE as that is exactly what he is.
