Thought I was getting a Brown Leghorn but now I’m not sure. I realize pullets lay when they are ready but she has not started yet. I thought Leghorns started around 18-20 weeks. She would be my only white egg layer in my flock. She is very skittish and I’m not able to pick her up to measure her pelvic area for readiness, if this makes sense. Ruthie has very little comb and no wattles yet. Any thoughts?

Welsummer? After looking closer, I'm not so sure...

You could have a Brown Leghorn. I don't know much about them. Sorry for not being much help.

Thanks WallyBirdie. They do look a lot alike. It’s just so unlike a Brown Leghorn to be almost 29 weeks old and not laying. Maybe she will just be my freeloader.

I'm only familiar with my own breeds but I'm learning more all the time.
Whatever the case with your girl, good luck. Maybe she's a late bloomer? Either way, she is a pretty girl.

Hard to see but the earlobes look kind of pale to me. I'd guess leghorns, but usually they're a little bolder white

Not a Brown Leghorn. I'll have to take some pictures of mine and post them. My Leghorns were all over the place as far as how long before they started to lay but they are laying machines even when the molt is on I can count pretty much on the Leghorns.

I would love to see pics on your Leghorns.
