what do i need to know about keeping duckies?

Oh yes, they will swim in the winter! I fill their water bowl with warm water, and it's just large enough for one duck to get in there and swim around. They usually don't swim for long, but they like their nice warm jacuzzi in the morning.

Something you need to know is that when they eat, they take a mouth full of food and then dip their beak in the water. They will also play in the mud and if there isn't any mud, they will make some. The water gets nasty REALLY quickly and they will also get their food wet in the process.

Also, they HAVE to have a waterer deep enough so that they can stick their face in it and the water be at least up to their eyeballs. They have to be able to completly submerge their bills to clean the dirt from their nostrils.

I was thinking that maybe a heated pool wouldn't be so hard after all. If I tossed a water warmer in the pool, it wouldn't be a jacuzzi, but it could be fun.
