What do we think I have? Hoover Hatchery Dual Purpose Assortment

Given that, yes I agree Rainbow is more likely than the other options. I suppose you will be able to tell better as they grow.

On Hoovers website, if I look at "dual purpose" chicks, I find the Black Sexlinks and Cinnamon Queens but not the other sexlinks. Cinnamon Queen would be one of the few red sexlinks that don't grow white wing feathers.

So I don't know how flexible they are when deciding what breeds to put in an assortment like yours.

For the photos of chick feet: those look yellow to me, so not Marans. It looks like one of them has a lot more white in the feathers than some of the others. That one is probably a Barred Rock male. Purebred Barred Rocks have more white in males, less white in females. The ones with less white in their feathers could be Barred Rock females, or Black Sexlink males.
I ordered 10 pullets and 5 unsexed, so it probably is male. There is 3-4 that are giving me Roo vibes- but we will see!

Some updated pics at 2 weeks. Red light makes it hard to see color, but they are definitely growing! There are a couple Australorps mixed in now 😊

3 week updated pics.

I’ve noticed that some of the barred chicks might have some lighter colored legs- possibly cuckoo marans but I really can’t tell. The yellow v.s. Pink legs are only somewhat different.

The white chick with black specks looks like they have green legs.

The red/white chicks I think are rainbow chicks. We will see.

No idea on genders yet. (I think 4 are roo’s) Supposed to have 10 pullets in the mix.

(-there are 4 Australorps in the mix 2 weeks old)

The white chick with black specks looks like they have green legs.

The red/white chicks I think are rainbow chicks. We will see.

I was thinking... that one a delaware- the feet color is throwing me off though!

Good point about the foot color. Delawares should have yellow feet. Of course, "should" doesn't mean they all do!

Green feet are common in Easter Eggers and a few other mix/hybrid types, but rare among pure breeds.

I wonder if the light one could be a Rainbow too?

I was also thinking rainbows, but I don’t know much about that type. There’s no information out on foot color except it’s the only one with green feet. There is a possibility of it being an olive egger- their crosses are Americanas and French Cuckoo Marans or Legbars and Welsummer so the chicks are not exactly what I expected for that.

I’ll get individual pics of each when they are fully feathered and see what happens. It’s fun guessing!
