Just plain cool water and lemon juice makes a nice shine on hardwood floors. I have the laminate stuff here....not "real" wood like my other house. On the laminate I only use a damp rag and wipe clean.

I agree. I found out if your floors are dull you can put a couple coats of the wax on and your floors will shine better. Now I just damp mop weekly and do a quick wax about every 4- 6 weeks. We have alot of sand and that is hard on the wax. Everyone takes their shoes off at the door now if I can teach the 3 long haired dogs to stop bringing the sand in with them!!!!
I professionaly redo hardwood and tile flooring ( Putting down and refinishing)
The Best stuff i've ever used is Superior court floor wax and Hillyard floor stripper also a good degreaser can help your floors.
I put my degreaser/stripper in mop water and spead water onto the floors then use a buffer and then pick up the water rinse mop the floor and then use the superior court wax on a lambs wool mop and this is the out come.
And no one slips and falls. I work at a 100+ year old school that has all REAL hardwood flooring and it has over 100 rooms and two gyms. Its not hard at all but you do have to make sure you over lap your coats and not to step in it and it takes two days to completely finish or a 5 days for me because I put on two coats due to the wear the kids put on the floors at school.
You cannot go wrong with hillyard! if you go to any flooring place they can get it for you Hillyard is widely known at all schools and most companys for their products.
Oh and my floor above is not smeared or streaked or patchy in places its the reflections of things on the floor there was posters and stuff on the walls
mop and glow... My mom had the stuff years ago... I went to lowells and had a look. It says its fine for hard wood floors. My special wood floor I USED pledge for wood floor and it did come out alright...
Had to recover our hardwood floors too much damage .
so its lamanite now and I vacume first ,then use
Bruce lamanite floor cleaner spray.

Wow now those are impressive, wish we had those products in the UK, my hardwood floors are mahogany, althopugh a nice "shine" nothing like your floors......want to come and do mine????????
I use about a cup of white vinegar to a gallon of warm water, and wring the mop out good since water and wood really don't go well together, the floors look great, the vinegar cleans, disinfects and deodorizes all in l job.If your using a swiffer wet mop, read the ingredients that are in the cleaner really good and know what they are. my DIL sent me an e mail the other day, about some lady that used a swiffer wet mop and her dog died, they had an autopsy (whatever they do on animals) and found that she had died from antifreeze, she licked her paws after walking on the floor and it eventually got enough in her system to kill her.Since it was an E mail, you know how that goes, is it true, don't know, but DD threw hers out rather than take a chance with her mini pins. marrie

I've used Swifter stuff for my bathroom and kitchen floors and my cat never got ill from them. Maybe they are so sensitive to the chemicals in it.
You all got lovely wooden floors. Glad the carpets are OUT when you are looking for a house or selling a house.
I also use warm water, white vinegar and a damp mop. Murphy's Oil Soap make my floors spotty for some reason. The vinegar is always just right. In between mopping, I use one of those Shark floor steamers. It works wonders for touch-ups and doesn't damage the floors at all. I have sealed real wood flooring with a matte finish.
