What do YOU call this??

We got our girls at TSC....red sex links.

But I've seen chickens that look like this called a zillion different things. So I'm wondering.....what are they really? What do YOU call them??

When they were chicks:

They look like Red Stars to me

I am pretty sure that is just another fancy name for the Red Sexed Link though.

they are called, Production reds of Golden Comets that breed is a cross between RIR and new Hampshire reds

I've been told Red Stars and/or Golden Comets.

Yours look just like my two "older" girls.

Golden comets, Black Stars, etc. are all a form of a cross-breed. It is called a sex-link, in which the colors tell the sex of the bird.

So, I call them Sex-Links. The color of the bird is what sets them apart. Black sex-links, Golden sex-links, red sex-links, etc.

I call them sex-links. I have seen some people call them production reds, but that is incorrect. There are production reds, but they are not a sex-linked bird, just a hatchery cross using an RIR.

Cool. I'm going to stick with calling them Red Stars then. Just because I can't bring myself to say 'sex link' in front of my neighbors when they ask.

Beside, they pretty much are the stars around here lately. Everyone loves them and wants to see them...so it works for us.

Around here, those are referred to as golden comets.
