Where?I grew up in a semi-rural part of S California. Everyone called them crawdads. I guess it is a regional thing.

These are the type we used for ourselves.We used to go out into the swamps with my Dad or the whole family with nets and catch them by the sacks to boil in HEAVY seasoning to eat. Now it's very commercial and they are grown in dedicated ponds or along in the rice feilds in SW Louisiana.
