What do YOU do about buyer backout??

I would put them back up for sale or short auction to move them, if I didn't have room in the bator. In my mind, no cash = no sale!

Well, I think you have your answer! No payment, no sale. Just apologize if the original buyer contacts you and explain the situation. Any reasonable person would understand that eggs cannot jbe put on "hold" or the hatch rate will significantly decrease.

BTW, I had this happen to me just recently. I only waited two days with no payment and response and then relisted the eggs with a 24 hour "must sell" on them before I would put them in my bator. I sold them with no problem and they were mailed the same day. Right after they were resold, the original buyer contacted me. Seems his internet was down, but he understood. He sent me payment for my next batch of eggs and I will be sending him a dozen next Monday! It all worked out....

I always base my actions on an assumption that most people are good and reasonable. That way I am logical in my decisions and not emotional. Seems to work for me!

I had a date to purchase eggs last weekend. My DSL was out for 4 days, becouse of a storm. I'm so glad the seller was understanding enough to allow me to pay 2 days late. I had to take the next batch laid, but the eggs are highly appreciated. Thank you again, baregretchen. I cant wait to hatch those frizzle's.

I had so many quail egg auction not get paid for that I quit listing them. I also had a serama auction where the buyer did pay for a week. That buyer had to wait for their eggs.

Since you posted your question yesterday on the 22nd, that means the eggs had been sitting for four days beyond the sell date, is this correct?

My thoughts- I wouldn't ship those particular eggs. They could be in transit up to three days (even local shipments have their hiccups in delivery) and that means the eggs would be 7+ days old by the time they hit the bator or nest box. That would really harm viability.

Just something to consider.

I agree with most everyone about - the eggs arent sold until payment is rendered. something can always come up - husband doenst get paid , doc emergency...unforseen things but the chickens doesnt care..you cant tell her to hold off until the customers finances get better..

bottom line - not sold until you get payemnt

first payment gets the eggs!

No problem, glad you were understanding, too. Like I said...I try to assume the best of people. I feel better that way and usually it works out just fine. I am sure you will LOVE these frizzles! They are so beautiful. I'll let you know when they go out...best of luck!
