I have burned one that was sick before. I will do this from now on. I have to deal with cats, dogs, coons, opossums, skunks, coyotes, hawks, eagles, and fox! I really hate to just throw them over the hill. And honestly....I would have to bury them really deep if I didn't want the coon and other diggers to dig it back up.

Its not pretty, but its better than seeing them dug back up and half eaten.

well...i am probably gonna get bashed here .

...but... i have been(in the past) burying them....but, i am running out of spots to put them..I dont really want pet cemetary in my back yard..(i figure it will draw predators someday).. and its pretty small...so, i recently got day old buttons, that something was wrong with them..6 out of my 10 died..and the person that hatched them for me lost all his also..(so, something was wrong with them)..but, anyways...i had my hubby take a walk(every day for a while here...

)..and bring them to the very end of our street..its a dead end with no houses..(just a river and woods down there)..so, i had him bring them there.. and toss them in the woods...they were already dead so..

..and with my bigger birds if one dies..i may have to do the same...i dont want to burn it(the stink!)..or toss it in a dumpster(poor garbage guys...although mine pisses me off..so, ..i may reconsider that option...)...sorry about your loss..

We toss anything that has died in the burning can---I couldn't bury it because my dogs would just love to dig them up and have a new chew toy! And the thought of it sitting in my trash can just weirds me out

LOL..yeah..i was only kidding..i wouldnt do it either...

You could put it in a bonfire, you could bury it, you could bag it up real good and put it in the trash.

I live out in the country and have various burn piles that I would burn the remains in if the time was right, otherwise I throw the remains out in the woods and let them return to the nutrient cycles in nature.

We bury them in summer, about 1 foot deep. At this time of year, we put them on a bonfire pile. They burn efficiently. I always put a sprig of lavender with them, whether it is burial or burning. They smell a little bit at the start of the burn when the feathers burn. After that it doesn't smell at all. ONly the first minute or so, if the fire is going properly. Personally, I want to be cremated, so it doesn't bother me to burn them. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. I always say a prayer to Mother Earth when I lay them on the fire.
