Did he actually mount them?
Sparks my...How do they do that?!
I called him and explained what I was planning on doing and he said he still wanted them. I suspected blackhead so all I needed to see was the liver and the ceca. I made a 4" incision on the belly and removed those parts. Don't know if he ever mounted them though.

Mine generally get tossed into the woods, if they have died of anything other than a sickness in which case they get buried but that has only happened twice. All the other corpses were left over from predator attacks so I figured they might as well go to feeding some other forest creatures. I do, however, make sure that they are left far, far away from my coop lest they draw more interest in my live chickens!

I usually bury them and make them a grave, because I’m very sentimental about them poultry that are usually raised for pets and eggs. :)
For those with diseases I try my best to cure them but if not, it’s a cull. Even those that are raised for meat get buried if they die of some kind of disease. Doesn’t happen often, thankfully.

Since I primarily am interested in Guinea Fowl. I was considering at one time rather than plucking, skinning.... A whole pelt processed can be sold to fly tie people.... so I went on some Taxidermy sites... Oh wow what a process.

Last time I looked The fly tying sites sold whoole pelts ranging from Guinea Fowl to Peacocks....

Packing in Salt or borax. Is only Part of the process... When you get done you essentially have made leather out of the pelt.

I decided I am not so dedicated.... LOL... Though I may give it a try... I still want to keep feathers for Art projects...

Mostly collected during molt.

It is an interesting process. An uncle of mine is a retired taxidermist. I helped him as a young teen do various birds, fish, deer and other ctitters.. it was pretty fun.. but a LOT of attention must be paid to details. Eyes tend to be one of the hardest to get right. And painting fish so they look natural! :)
