Besides a good quality layer feed... what else and in what quantity?

What will help boost their immune systems to keep them healthy? I'm talking all natural, preferably food. I know some people swear by Avia charge, but what about stuff we can just get at the grocery or co-op?

Wow I figured someone would have already said this:

Put 1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (with mother if you can find it) in per gallon of water.

Mine love the Tahitian Noni Equine Essentials, but it's kinda pricey so it's doubtful that I'll buy more when my current supply runs out. However, some the ingredients are pretty straightforward -- blueberry and grape juices, vitamin E, sunflower and flax seed oils, soy lecithin -- here's a blurb from their web site on what benefit the ingredients offer (although intended for horses it should do the same for chickens)
Sunflower Seed and Flaxseed Oil
Sunflower Seed Oil supplies linoleic acid, and Flaxseed Oil supplies linolenic acid. They are necessary for healthy coats and strong cells membranes.

Soy Lecithin
Promotes healthy coats, joints, and gastro-intestinal tracts.

Vitamin E
Offers powerful antioxidants, helps stabilize nutrients, and benefits the immune and cardiovascular systems.

It seems like it should be fairly easy to concoct a supplemental beverage from these ingredients that would provide similar benefits.

Any herbs? Like garlic or???

Also, is it possible to over do the sunflower seeds? I've been giving the girls BOSS now that it's winter.

Try sprouting wheat. The wheat sprouts are extremely nutritious and they are a source of CO-Q10, an enzyme noted for improving the immune system. 'Live' foods are always a plus for good health.

Adding kelp meal to their feed will add all the vitamins and minerals they need and help assure good health. It is relatively inexpensive when compared to the 'supplements' that people buy.
