Also, what are young guinea's called? Keets right?

The reason I'm asking is because I was just given three babies. One albino female, one lighter gray female? Not sure if she's a standard color or not... and an albino male. They're all a week old, I think, because they're fully feathered on the wings and the two females have tail feathers coming in. If they're anything like chickens that places them at right about a week.

The only guinea experience I have is I remember having them as a kid and that they were fantastic at letting us know when intruders were around and kept the property fairly clean of ticks and such.

ETChange it to keets.

I feed mine gamebird starter.

How can you tell males from females at a week old? Did the previous owner tell you that? It takes a few weeks before the females make their "comeback comeback" call.

Yes. The previous owner told me what he thought they were. They all look identical to me, aside from coloration, so I really have no clue.

I agree completely with Racuda, I fed my keets gamebird starter as well. Guineas need the higher protein level....and I believe that someone told you a good one.

You really need to wait until they are old enough (6-8weeks) to have their voice come in to sex them. Its been my experience the females start to make their "comeback comeback" call before the males start their "chi-chi" call.

Mine were 7 weeks old when I first hear the female sound, and, hence sex them. Now that mine are grown, I can tell the females from the males by their wattles, but as keets you have to go by the sound. Here is a
video when I first could tell them apart.
