What do you grow for your flock?

Our girls love greens. You could just scatter some collard, mustard, kale seeds around. Only trouble is they may get them before they mature. We would throw in a couple large collard leaves and they loved them. Of course regular cuke, carrot, squash, tomatoe scraps are good.

I've heard others say the same thing, but I have five large hostas on the north side of my house, and they've never touched them. The most they've done is the occasional dust bath between the plants.

I think we'll probably try some grains next year. I'd love to do watermelon or cantaloupe, but ours always die. Everybody seems to think they're so easy to grow, so I don't know what I do wrong. I planted some fall kale, lettuce, spinach and beets, so the chickens can have those greens when they're ready.
