Just wondering what everyone is feeding, I feed them a Flock Raiser Pellet, I also give them treats of breads and corn and stuff. I hear people say Dog food or Cat food also, Would any kind do? is it just as a treat or do you guys mix it in with other feed?

I am feeding fermented chicken grower. To which I add calf manna, rice/wheat,mealworms (in treat quantities),vionate, dried chick peas, cranberries,or some other kind of fruit or veggie on sale. I topdress with the meal worms, everything else is fermented. When they free range, they have access to dried wheat and cat food, both of which they chow on. Sorry that i'm not a lot of help.

I feed a Flock Raiser crumble to which I add some Ultra Kibble and some Fruit and Nut bird food. I also give them as treats: dry cat food, whole grain bread (the end pieces), chopped hard boiled eggs, chopped grapes, tomatoes, strawberries, and they love watermelon. Oh and they love fresh spinach! My boys are only two years old so I just searched on this site to get feeding ideas and touch wood, they are doing great.

Does it matter what kind or brand of cat food or dog food? I am guessing not but figured i d ask, SOme may have something in it that is not good for them. Do I feed it as a treat or do I give them a blow of dog or cat food?

I don't know about others, but I just sprinkle some on the ground as a treat. I just give them what I feed our barn cats which is usually meow mix. I have three boys and I just give them one or two handfuls every couple of days. I don't give them treats every day.

That's how I do it.

Mine get Nutrena chicken layer pellets and one third gamebird feed mixed and sometimes flockraiser crumbles instead of gamebird feed for the main feed. Treats are mainly bananas but they also get a mix of rye grass. collards, lettuce. blueberries. apples without the seeds.cantalopes, watermelon, bread. cat food They are omnivores so it seems about most all of it will work.
