But the Muscovy are going to go in here...eventually.

I put slide windows on each end but the front window is always open and there is plenty of air spaces around the top for summer venting. It is miserable here in the summer.

My house when we bought it came with a 10 by 14 ft "kennel" with a concrete floor, that was originally by the first owners, I am told, used to house a pair of peafowl. The next previous owners did have ducks and only put some birdproof cloth over the ceiling and a very large igloo doghouse which took up half the area pretty much (got rid of that one). I nailed some kind of roof on it, not air or watertight by no means, but does help to keep a lot of the rain and snow out. I just have a doghouse and a few small rabbit houses in it. We get foxes and raccoons and hawks and such, but never had a problem with them at night at least, when they are locked up.

We built a 4'x5' duck house out of 1/2" plywood with a shingled roof. It is about 4' high where the door is and about 3' high at the back. It's raised off the ground by about 6" with venting and a lockable door. Our 2 Rouens and 3 Mallards go in there at night as we have a ton of predators. They usually go in there all by themselves as soon as it gets dark out. They were fine during our cold streak and snowy weather. Even when the pool was frozen, they yapped at me until my son broke up the ice and then they were in it immediately. They don't seem to notice the cold!

I am new to ducks too. My husband is in the garage as we speak building our duck house. He never does anything on a small scale so the house is like 4'x5' with a roof peak at almost 6'ft. He wanted it big enough that we could easily get in to clean and have room to add to our crew. I will post some pictures soon. He also dug me a pond last fall in preparation so we plan to put the duck house near the chicken coop and just leave them to free range. I have had pretty good luck so far with free ranging the chickens most of the time so we are gonna try it!
