What a nifty thread! I've found some cool crafts on BYC. Awhile back I saw a lady who made potholders here and I'm so glad I ordered some from her, they were so beautiful.
My husband and I have a little sawmill so I am making little wood projects all the time. I take pallets from businesses that will burn or toss them, and make things like pallet crosses, pallet signs, etc. We pick up deer hides and other things from a processor that just disposes of them, tan the hides and make hair-on or buckskin. I got a lace maker and love to braid the buckskin. We take the legs and make bone needles, incense holders, all sorts of cool things. The pine needle hand brooms are always really fun to make, they're so handy to keep in the kitchen or in the shop - used one the other day to sweep up some spilled coffee grinds from the countertop. I have made walking sticks for years, ever since I was a kid, and I just use a pocket knife to whittle it down and sometimes leave bark on in designs. My husband is about to set up our woodshop better where we can make cutting boards and maybe even photo frames. We have our hands in alot of different craft pies, but I enjoy it. It's so relaxing to me to just be able to work on little projects like this.
