The wood floor is gonna be a problem keeping clean. If you can, your life would be alot easier if you could cut the center wood out and replace it with hardware cloth, this will allow poo to fall thru.

You never said if your quail are to be pets, eggs or meat. You would also have the option of raising Bob whites, gambles, texas blue scale, or several other quail species in a pen of this size. I have no idea if you have access to any of these in Ireland or not. But your ideal number of birds would be lower, more like 2 hens to 1 roo, or 1 to 1. These breeds will likely let you know how they want to live. Your clean up will be less with with these breeds too, they eat less,waste less, grow slower, and produce less poo than coturnix. Bill
