What do you place your hay in?

We have a hay ring for the round bales, but the square bales for the calves I've been putting in their bunk feeder - it helps keep it off the ground and somewhat helps keep them from rubbing their faces on the hay (and getting irritations which open them up for pink eye).

I like the homemade wooden one above, and been thinking of building something similar, I saved your pictures to show hubby (is that ok?).

I have a big old tractor tire that a guy turned inside out. Wish I had a pic. Works great for the horses. I built a wooden manger for them in their in/out building. I would think any wooden structure of the appropriate height for the animals you have with slats for the hay to fall through would work and be far less wasteful than putting it on the ground. Like that wood one pictured. That looks great! Creativity. The Mother of Invention.
