Cool!Certain breeds of chickens are great with kids. But typically only hens. Such as Silkies. If I had a kid, I would feel fine with her having a silkie hen.
nice!I prefer chickens. Love roosters, too, but chickens are easier - lol!
Ducks are AWESOME, but messy, and a bit more difficult to keep because of water requirements.
My kids were fine with chickens (my kiddos are all adults now). My chickens are pets, but I don't expect them to be like dogs or something. I just expect them to be chickens. They give me eggs, and I am grateful for that. I am responsible for their health and wellbeing, so they are pets. We don't eat our pets.
