What do you think about this for housing Quail?

I was searching for different housing ideas for some quail and I ran across many cute little houses. After thinking about all the little things that I wanted to have for my birds I decided to do something very similar to this one. Just wanted to get your advice on what you think about this. I am only going to put 12-15 birds in it. I was also thinking bout making it 3'-4' wide, about 8' long and about 3' tall. I was also going to plant it with different plants to give them plenty of places to hide in. Do you think that this would be a good coop and run for them? I have a couple more weeks to nail all the ideas down. The quail that I bought to go with my others will be out of quarantine in another 2 weeks.

I'm think this coop belongs to someone on here. I have been collecting ideas for this project for awhile and can't remember if I found this on this site or not. It seems to have everyting I want.

I would be concerned with the size of the doors. Too large equals escapies due to the fact they are not tame/ docile like chickens.

Have to agree with Bossroo on the door size.

Not sure what type of quail you have or are adding, but mixing them usually is a hard thing to do. I raise Bobwhites and they are very family and territory orientated. If you add in a new one they sometimes will kill it. You may need to rethink the housing idea to have two seperate rooms to keep the groups.

Bossroo I Have A Fix For Your Door Problem! A Couple Actually...
1. I Took Avian Netting (the Type You Put Over Koi Ponds To Keep Birds From Eating Your Fish...) And Stapled It Inside The Door Tracks--- 2 Overlapping Peices Like A Stage Curtain-- You Can Reach Thru But The Quail Cant Get Out! Works Like An Unbeleiveable Charm!

2. Pinion Them Bad Boyz!!!! Just Snip The Tip And Be Done With It. I Have Ga Giants, Coturnix, Butler Bobs, Valleys--- Lemme Tell Ya, It Certainly Soothes The Savage Beast! I Pinion Mine At About 3-4 Wks Old (can Be Done At Any Age) And Give 'em A Week To Heal Then We Have A Few Short Flying Lessons And Ta Da! They Are Cured!!!

Now As Far As The Cage--- Pee Wee Thats The Worst Looking Monstrosity I Have Ever Seen! You Need To Pack That Thing Up And Send It Over Here So I Can Disassemble And Burn It! Lol---- Just Kidding:d. I Like It! But I'd Do Mine Up Off The Ground And At A Hieght Where It Would Be Easier To Get In There And Catch The Lil Rascals. And Cleaning And Maintenance Would Be Easier As Well As More Healthy For The Birds.

the wood run portion looks very similar to one I built for my birds, but what is in the pic is about twice as tall as mine...and I have my doors top latched and bottom hinged so that they open down...so mine is only about 14" tall inside

(sorry, I'm taking pics asap and will post them up)

so the height would be my only concern as you don't want them bonking their heads...

moving the door to the top of the run would fix the quail flopping out issue.
