What do you think--getting married, wedding cake toppers in chickens?

So, my aunt has been living with us trying to get back on her feet. She is very creative and is good at drawing and also at sculpting things out of clay & fimo. We were thinking the custom wedding cake toppers would be an awesome avenue for her to start and make some money.

Sooooo, here's my question(s):
1-Are you getting married or would you buy something like this for your cake?

2-Would you buy a custom cake topper (perhaps chickens, dogs, pirates, surfboards, starfish, etc), what themes would be cute or would be what you would like to see?

She is at home now working on some samples. She is also going to try and make bouquets out of buttons.

We're hoping to get a couple going so that we can post them on Etsy.

She is def. thinking about doing some chicken ones, because of the obvious. I have Silkies & Showgirls and she thinks she's figured out how to make them. But I'm thinking regular chickens would be easier.

Price would depend on size and complexity. Probably ranging from about $30-$75

Anyone interested? Any ideas?

I've been married for 16 years now, so no wedding cake toppers are needed here but I think chicken toppers would be absolutely awesome!

Aw, just go ahead and use a real chicken. Maybe a bantam wearing booties and diapers to keep the cake edible. I can see it!

Great idea, I do cakes too, have her make the toppers out of fondant, people really like them as they are edible and lots of people use it for flowers and other sculptures, a small bag of premade is cheap its easily dyed too.

I plan to never marry and am still dodging that bullet but I would def have high regard for anyone that doesn't have flowers or ribbon on their cake. Now, could she do something cool for the punch bowl? (Equally cool with chickens as the ring bearer).

Thanks for all the comments!

I don't know that she has ever worked with fondant, maybe the craft store has it? Since I have fimo at house, she'll probably start with that so it won't cost me anything!

Punch bowl, like what are you thinking?

I've seen the clay being used on glasses, maybe she can do something on the cups. Or maybe the knives?

Anything other than the normal ice ring or fountain? I'm just not that creative when it comes to showers and receptions but I do know that folks seem to spend alot on the dessert and overlook the beverages and real food. Super cool to have wine bottles with a chicken inspired custom label for the couple.
