What Do YOU Think is The Mix of Breeds in These Puppies? Pics

I have the same issue with puppies as I do with young birds. It's so darned hard to tell what's in there. There are so many larger, longer haired breeds of dogs! Once you mash a bunch of them together, combined with the squishiness of a puppy, it can be hard. I bet as they grow, you would start to see some more characteristics of the breeds they my be mixed with.

No matter the mix, I'd say if you were looking for an outside farm dog, one of these guys would probably work quite well. They are also young enough that you could begin your training immediately.

Here, BMDs are an extremely common breed. We see them in the hospital all the time. We also get quite a few BMD mixes (The "Oops my poor quality BMD which I refused to have fixed despite an overwhelming number of low cost clinics around here got loose and came home pregnant" kind of thing) A lot of these pups look pretty similar to the ones you posted above, which is why I'm inclined to agree with the vet. I do think just about everything is said to have "shepherd" in it though!

Quote: Yeah, and Lab Mix is also extremely common.

I don't mind adopting a slightly older dog, IF it can be known it is chicken and cat-friendly. But, with a puppy, with all the headaches they bring, you can hope to mold them into the image you need. I think a broody hen and a hissing, swatting cat will help that training, LOL.

Okay, my neighbors were just here and fell head over heels for that second female! What are the chances the shelter would ship a pup to Maine? I think they are serious!

I doubt they'd ship, but the founder of the HS told me that already two folks from up north are interested in the pups. She said they'd have to learn to bark with a NY accent, LOL. They'd have to contact the Humane Society of Blue Ridge and go from there. They have a FB page.

Here is their FB page, but the pups are not on there yet. They have a Petfinder page that you can access from their main website.

They got this dog in after the puppies. Her coat and her head have me thinking Newfie? Curly coated retriever mix? What the heck is in this girl? She is large but not huge. They have her listed as a border collie mix, but I really don't see much of that in her other than her energy level in a video playing with other dogs.

What is Jasmine? Click to make the pics larger so you can see her coat. They say it's super soft like a spaniel's. She looks so much like my friend Ladyhawk's big black Great Pyrenees x Black Lab mix, especially the head and the soft coat.

I'd say there's probably newfie in there. I suppose it could be a newfie border collie cross but the newfoundland stands out to me.

That's what I saw right away, that huge broad head, how on earth they immediately went to Border Collie, I'm not sure. They say she's about 11 months old from what they can tell. She won't be Newfie size so there is something else smaller there, but that head, wow.

They were all adopted awhile back, a couple at a time. Now, two pups are back at the HS to be re-adopted, one male and one female. One is the tannish female they called Juliette so we have an opportunity to see how they were really turning out. Here is Juliette with her photo
they from prior puppyhood.

The male, Valentino. Still listed as a Bernese Mtn Dog cross by the HS.

The above pup apparently somehow broke her leg and has been recovering, up for adoption again. They've gone from Bernese Mtn dog x Shepherd to Husky x Retriever to now saying she's a Black Mouth Cur x Laborador. Geez. Where are they getting that? What do you see now that she's grown up a lot?

Lab shepherd is my guess. Black mouth cur? It always cracks me up when people want to tag mutts as something unusual. Seems much more likely that they probably had a mutt mom and a mutt dad. ;)
