What do you think of my new nesting box?

Ok. Well, first off, I'd like to answer wendypets question on the purple egg. NO, it is not a real egg. I placed a couple of plastic eggs from Ostara to try and get the chickens to realize that it is a nesting box. Our two oldest hens are only a little over 4 months old; I want to be ready when they do start laying!
Most people here have said that hens start laying between 4 to 6 months old. Well, one of my roos started crowing last week, so I thought (and am hoping) that the hens might start to lay soon!
Here is the picture of the finished nesting box. I hope that it will be dark enough for them inside, but if not, my neighbor suggested tacking a piece of curtain fabric above the door so it hangs over the opening.

I think the hens will be happy! I know I'LL be happy to collect their eggs! LOL
