What do you think of my roosts?

My Coop
My Coop
Hey Guys,

I just built this coop and I am wondering if you think Bielefelder chickens will like it. The roosts are about 36" from the floor. Egg boxes are 12" wide x 13" deep and about 18" tall.

I read that they need adequate floor space to fly down to off the roosts. My coop is 6' x 6' not including the nesting boxes. Is floor space an issue? I could add a platform on the second level or even make a third level. The coop is tall. About 12' tall. I also considered adding a ramp to the second level but I didnt read any posts from people that said ramps worked for them.

I will have 10 chickens here.

All roosts are 12" -14" away from the walls. I think the roost over the nesting box is 20" from the wall so they didnt poop into the nesting boxes.

Open to advice.

It's best to have a ladder type system for roosts so birds can get up and down easily. Younger birds like to fly up but older mature hens will have problems. They also look like they can poop into your nestboxes below.

I hope they are far enough away to not poop in the nesting boxes. I mentioned that they were about 20" from the wall. We will see. I could add covering or move them if that happens.

I would cover the nests and add a ramp up to the roosts.
They are going to have a hard time time getting up and especially down in such a cramped space.
