What do you think of these marans eggs?

Thanks for the link - I love the egg color, they are beautiful - I was a bit confused by the advertisement, I didnt think the Marans had been accepted as APA yet, it was still being worked on when I was able to have more to do with Marans...I've been out of touch a bit since I have been struggling with up and down health issues this year, but I didnt realized we'd come this far?

The Ebay seller makes the comment, among others that "I have compared each bird to the APA approved Standards for the breed and culled anything I thought would not Show well. " and "The Superintendent of the Show came to my ranch and looked at my birds and convinced me to show them in the upcoming Show. He said they were Show Quality birds." Maybe they mean they are showing Quality Marans that meet the proposed standards, to help the breed gain recognition and acceptance into the APA?

Still, nice pretty, dark eggs. I love pretty dark eggs!

Yeah, I didn't put to much weight on the advertising. I guess I have heard that they aren't approved but I assume, as you say, she's breeding to the proposed standards.

But since she had nice dark eggs, that's mostly what I cared about! If they turn out to be good quality hens that will be a bonus. I have always bought from hatcheries since I'm just a backyard hobbyist. But maybe I should care more about standards!

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll be interested to see what I get, if I am lucky enough to be able to hatch some!
