My children can get a high school diploma. Unschooling doesn't mean they can't achieve the same results.

What do tattoos have to do with this thread?

I'm quite offended by your comment. My tattoos have not affected my job, and I highly doubt they would affect my chances of becoming the CEO of any company, if I so desired.

Sorry, sorry- We were trying to talk our 15 year old daughter out of getting one, She was in the rebellious state and we were trying to motivate her. NOT trying to knock everyone with a tatto! I have one (i do regret it, but DO NOT look down on those who have them AT ALL) I know the world is changing and becoming more accepting of body modifications, but I do not want my daughter to do those things, and that is my personal right to feel that way, you can do as you please, it does not bother me a bit.

This is a hard subject for me. I think I will bow out gracefully as I seem to have unintentionally offended alot of people. I am sorry if you have felt personally attacked or that I have insulted you in any way. I am not against 'homeschooling' I dont believe in unschooling. The question originally posted was "what do you think of unschooling'? I answered to the best of my ability. My intent was not to get everyone up in arms and defensive. I could easily try to defend myself, explain why I say the things I have (not that anyone has asked, they were all too busy being offended and defensive) but I wont.

Everyone who I have upset: You have my apologies, it was not my intent. And I'm really suprised at how easily offense has been taken, nothing I have said has been directed at any one person in particular, only at a form of education that is not, in actuality, a person who can take offense.
I am at this site because I really like my pet chickens and I really like all the people who are so warm, welcoming, and helpful! Good night all!

Bill Gates went to Harvard for 2 years, then became a programmer and got really lucky. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is one of the biggest supporters of public schools and they provide more scholarships to public and private schools and colleges than any other foundation.

Ok you guys are clearly raising genuis children.

Mine is not a genius. She is a regular kid.

No mine is not a genius, but we do instill a good work ethic physically and mentally and she has no limitations put on her. Stiffled creativity is what holds people back. Stiffled self confidence and self esteem holds people back. Just instilling the basics until she gets her wings. She knows more about some things than most adults, and we let her choose her own specialties. There is no limit to what anyone can accomplish given the correct tools and guidance. Intelligence is only half of it. We want them to have the drive to market their intelligence. Knowing they are marketable is half that battle. Regular kid here too...kinda.
