We're so excited to receive our 4 chickens tomorrow! This is our first time as chicken parents. We finished the coop yesterday. Any last-minute thoughts?

That looks wonderful! Amazing job! One thing I'd be concerned about is things tunneling in- do you have a hardware cloth apron or a solid foundation on it?

That's gorgeous! I love the wood and the use of the timber. If the milk crates are nesting boxes, you'll likely only need two for four girls, (agree with DL, they look high too) but that's an easy adjustment for later.

Do you have hardware cloth on the screen door? Can't tell from the picture.

Wow!

Welcome to BYC. You've done an amazing job -- it's roomy, well-ventilated, and aesthetically pleasing with an interesting use of natural wood stumps and branches.

The only thing I'm wondering about is that third tier. I presume that they'll roost up there, since they like to be high up, and it might prove difficult to clean.

It’s really adorable!

Is that a stump under the nesting box adding structural support? Chickens love to dig and supports that are not very deeply buried can be uncovered chickens. Also, if the wood supports are punky, they might not last too long. But all of that is something that can be fixed a long the way as a problem arises.

It looks very secure (with some hwc over that screen door if it’s not already) and slick as heck to boot! Good job!

It looks amazing! you done an amazing job especially as a first time chicken owner. However I think the nesting boxes are a little too high. Maybe you can train them as they grow though because chickens are very curious and will explore up there

Your nest boxes are too high. That prop stick scares me.
With some minor changes it will be awesome.
The prop stick is just for us when we want to reach the eggs. The door will generally be kept closed. There is a side door for them to enter the space right next to the ramp.

When you mention that the nest boxes are too high, do you mean the actual height of the boxes themselves? Or the height off the ground?
