when I got "Pete" I had him and one chick, But sadly the one chick pass away I know the lady who gave me Pete and more chick like Pete do you think I should get one more chick to keep Pete happy

Chickens do not do well at all by themselves...they need the company. I would say go get some replacements as soon as possible so there's not a big age difference....good luck!

I do have 3 older chickens and i try to put pete with them no luck i got Pete on April the 25 2014

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! It is usually best to wait until the younger chickens are about the same size as the older ones before you combine them. And a long period of seeing but no touching behind wire, like if you can divide the coop into parts or keep the younger birds in a cage in the coop, for several weeks at least works well. fyi, at nine weeks, if you get Pete a friend the same age now, you may still have to introduce the two of them slowly, they may not get along at first either. There is a nice article in the Learning Center on combining flocks. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock

Welcome to BYC!

Kelsie X3 I would definitely get him a friend. Chickens are highly social creatures and need each other. Read the article that Kelsie has left for you on combining your flock together. Do it slowly over a few weeks time and they should mix in easily.

Good luck with your lone chick and welcome to our flock!

I ask my parents and they say no I will try again I hope the say yes
