What do you use to string up a head of cabbage for your chickens that will security hold the cabbage?

I want to give our chickens an old head of cabbage and would like to know what people use to string the head up.

I use a solid plastic stick and punch it through and hang it with a piece of string. The stick has some feathered edging on it so it acts like a barbed hook and keeps it in place and won't harm any of them.

Great idea! I am going to ask my husband if we have an eye bolt that will work. I may need to go and buy one exclusively for this purpose.

I've used both the eye bolt and just a string through the middle (I used a drill to bore a hole through the thing - ha!).

where did you get this plastic stick?

One is from a hanging treat block and the other is stick from a cat toy where they chase the feather on a string.

We use a shishkabob skewer and also put melon slices and apples on it - skewer it into the ground.
