Anybody remember Little House on the Prairy episode where they are having their first Christmas?
THe grizzly guy truged through a blizzard to bring them their supplies from mankato.....
They were huddled around the fireplace warming him up and he tells them a story about meeting santa and doing him a favor etc... then gives them sweet some potatoe, the kids got their very own tin cup, candy cane, and an orange ....
That's what I want.
No gift shopping marathons, no "I feel bad because you got me a home sterio system and I got you this oven mitt..", no animosity, no sarcasm....Just family, hanging out, eating dinner and catching up.
What I really want is for someone to say, "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Haunnuka" without looking over thier shoulder for the PC police.
I usually get so depressed during the season, I used to spend two weeks in the woods "hunting" just to avoid the whole mess. Now I have a wife and her relatives I have to cook for so at least I get to cook a lot...
Maybe what I really, really, really, want is a bottle of Vanilla Extract.
