What do your ducks do during the day?

My 6 week old ducklings are very lazy. 90% of the time I see them, they’re sitting on the grass, occasionally picking at some plants. The other 10% they play in their pool. Is this normal? For some reason I expect them to be more active. They were much more active when they were younger. They do come running when I have treats but besides that they seem to really enjoy relaxing.

Free ranging ducks are a bit more active,Mine usually forage when I let them then go rest, or go back to their pen and wade in their kitty pools,honestly ducks are that “Active” of animals, their pretty lazy.

When I go out at sunrise, my ducks are usually quietly hanging out in the pen, taking turns laying in the nest. Their food is usually depleted. When I enter the pen, they tend to go into their house while I put down stall refresher and new feed. Then they run out and start eating. Later, I give them new bathing water and they take turns in the kiddie pool. I pick them an armload of their favorite weeds and they dive into it, devouring it quickly. Apart from that, they spend a lot of time sitting together near the door and just relaxing. I can’t let them free range because we have dogs and other predators.

Mine are both a year old. They will forage in the morning when let out, then swim a little, lay down for a hour or two, then do it all again! Most of the time when I look outside they are laying in the grass or on my porch.

Ours live life pretty much the same way yours do. After the morning routine, they just lay around most of the day, especially when it’s hot out.

Plotting to kill us in our sleep to get to all the mealworms and kitty-chow. Or something. Idk. They are allways quitely staring..they MUST be up to something sinister

My Runners shoot out the door ready to start their day on the run. heads down looking for something anything to eat.. My Muscovy's come out slower and pretty much just stand around waiting for breakfast. Then the rest of the day the Runners have busy times and rest times the Scovy's do much more resting.

Our ducks tend to be most active in the early morning and in the evening. Like others have said, they are usually pretty lazy during the day and are typically laying in a shady spot all huddled together.

Ducks are pretty lazy for the most part in my personal opinion.

My ducks are almost always walking around nibbling on something.
When it got above 95 F 35 C, however, they laid down a lot in the shade.
Now it doesn't get higher than 90 F 32 C, so they're much more active.
They go crazy when it heavily rains and floods.
