What do your ducks do during the day?

My ducks are almost always walking around nibbling on something.
When it got above 95 F 35 C, however, they laid down a lot in the shade.
Now it doesn't get higher than 90 F 32 C, so they're much more active.
They go crazy when it heavily rains and floods.
Oh my gosh, I love it! My ducks would freak with that much water. You wouldn’t be able to get them out!

What do my ducks do?

7AM: Run honking out the door and act like they're starving as they nom on the first green thing they see.

9AM: Try to sneak into my fairy garden. Run flapping back to the water fount by Zoo when I chase them off.

Laze around yard or Zoo for several hours.

Afternoon: Take perfect opportune moment when I am not watching to waddle down driveway, down the road, and into next door neighbor's yard.

4: Get chased back into our yard by the kids.

8: Stand still eyeing me put away the chickens and goats, water gardens, then attempt to sneak away as soon as they know it's their turn for bed.

Pretty sure they're awake all night. It's the only time the water magically empties and the pool turns brown.

Swim, preen, eat, sleep, repeat. And being sneaky sneaky's.

If I don't hear them I know I should worry. If they are too silent they are up to no good. You either forgot to close the door and are now in the kitchen eating the cat's food.. or you forgot to turn of the faucet after filling their pool and the whole garden is now mud-paradise. Both cases they have learned that if they quack and we notice; the cat-chow or mud-party is over; so they don't quack anymore. So we know now 'Hmmm. it's so silent..' 'omg TOO silent!'. and I rush to the kitchen and my partner to the garden-faucet :p

They are so much smarter then I thought, and much smarter then they act. Especially my white duck is really good in 'acting innocent'. She has the 'If I look cute I get away with more'-skill perfected. Well allmost. I swear they are secretly toddlers in feathers.

But that is also why I love them. I used to breed rats because they are a bit the same. It's never a boring day with smart sneaky sneaky's.

Leave duck house - eat in pen - adjourn to big pond when chickens come out - swim - mate - preen - forage - repeat until 6PM - waddle up to pen - get loud and demand mealworms and more food - avoid chickens - lay in pen - waddle into duck house for lock down.
Extra noise and more fun activity during thunderstorms / rain and look up at sky during rocket launches at KSC.
That’s their life and we love ❤️ them for it.
