What Do Your Kids Like To Eat?

my son eats those little cheese and crackers things, juice boxes, cereal bars and chocolate milk everyday. I spoil him a little on this because his meds cut his appetite. He also loves my grandmothers canned red beets.

My 8 year old DD will knock you down to take away your brussell sprouts or lima beans. She's been like that forever.

ronshoney - I agree with you. I told my DH before DD was born that I absolutely will NOT fix two meals. She either eats it or does without. But then we approach everything as exciting and fun to try.

She'll give everything a chance, and usually a second chance. So, by now, if she says she doesn't like something I know without a fact that she really doesn't like it, not just being picky. Poor kids has tried to eat mushrooms 4-5 times because she knows we like them and everytime she does I can see the grimace forming after the first few bites. I don't push the issue with those sorts of things.

Mine is a teenager. He eats just about anything! Seriously though, he was really picky until he was 4, after that he snapped out of it and is pretty easy to please. My sister always cooked her and her husband something different than she did the kids. They were baffled when they couldn't come to my house and "order" whatever they wanted!

My hubby is the "kid" at our house! If I don't cook for whatever reason he uses that oppurtunity to have Ramen! He loves the stuff with american cheese slices cut up in it and hot sauce! YUK!

ive always had a 2 bites chewed and swallowed rule. Then its ok to say you dont like it. My oldest has learned that he may miss out on something really good if he doesnt try. I saw something some where that said kids have much more sensitive taste buds than adults and many vegetables actually do taste bitter or stronger to them.

I'm so glad my daughters preschool teacher (a few years ago) introduced us to SUNbutter!

Aside from above mentioned... they're also ramen noodle fanatics.. but they call 'em "juicy noodles"

and the 8yo LOVES broccolli like it's candy!

My 5 year old loves olives and "greasy chicken" (dark meat chicken baked with the skin on).

My 2 year old loves baked potatoes and peanut butter (not together).

They eat a lot of other stuff too, but those are the favorites.

Unfortunately, they most of the time like opposite foods! So I can't cook to please everyone.

The rule in our house is that you can eat what I cook, or go into the fridge and get yourself a yogurt. I won't short order cook, but I also won't force them to eat something they don't like.

Oh, and I disagree with the "they will eat if they are hungry enough" comment. When my oldest was 3, she started losing weight. The doctors' freaked out and sent her for all sorts of tests. Diagnosis? Picky eater. Cure? Make a milk shake for her every night before bed.

She is still tiny. 32 pounds at 5 years old and all bones...

I'm a lucky gal. My kids eat almost anything. They're not always happy about it. We have a rule that they have to try at least 1 bite. My son will have bloody fits over that 1 bite, but it's the way he has found most of his favorites

They're happiest over meat and potatoes but eat swiss chard quiche, beets, (my daughter ate a mountain the other night) all fruits, salad, and a huge variety of food.

Our rule was never make 2 meals, but since I'm the main cook I want to be fair to everyone's tastes. We sit down when the complaining gets loud and work out a list of what everyone feels like. Then, I work off that list to keep everyone happy

I try to stick veggies anywhere possible, so when I ask my kids if they like a certain food, they automatically ask with a grin, "What's in it, mom?"

BTW, what is SUNbutter?

When my stepson was little, he loved chicken fingers, spaghetti, and - get this - SUSHI! I used to have to stop him from cramming too many California rolls in his mouth!

He's 22 now - God only knows what he eats...

They eat what we eat, which is bascially everything. Picky eaters are not tolerated in our house. When they have friends over their friends what we eat. Food allergies are the only thing we'll make an exception for.
